Ashton, Ontario, Canada -- An early village in the Ottawa area
October 18, 2011:
The village of Ashton is located west of Richmond. It is on the western border of Goulbourn Township on the township
line with Beckwith Township. The headwaters of the Jock River are just to the west of the village.
Some of the pioneer families in the Munster / Ashton area were Jinkinson,
Hobbs (from Borrisokane, County Tipperary, Ireland, (ML# 299) and Bobier (according to grave markers in the old cemetery).
Christ Church Anglican Church is located in the center of the village. Both churches,
the old and the new churches, are interesting architecturally.
