Helen BYRNES / BURNS and (1) J. BRENNAN and (2) James BARRY
December 1, 2001
Hi Al:
Enjoy your web site very much:
My ggrandmother was Helen Byrnes from Huntley Township. She was
married first time to John or Jim Brennan. They had 1 daughter Helen who was
my grandmother. Her 2nd husband was James Barry. They lived in Onslow Que.
We know very little about her or J. Brennan
She had a sister Mary who was married to Richard Daley / Daly from Chelsea.
Maybe we are same Byrnes.
Any info would be greatly appreciated
Thank You

Hi Ray:
Thanks for your e-mail regarding Helen Byrnes.
When I began trying to round up all of the Burns in the Ottawa area a few
years ago I found a record of the marriage of your Helen Byrnes to James
Barry. The marriage is recorded at Notre Dame on Sussex Drive and took place
on January 8, 1838. Unfortunately, at the time, I didn't write down the
names of their parents. They may have been living at Huntley and went to
Bytown for the marriage or the marriage may have been performed in Huntley
by a travelling priest from Notre Dame.
On November 6, 1837, Helen's sister Mary married your Richard Daley / Daly,
also recorded at Notre Dame.
In both marriages the spelling of Byrnes is BURNS.
I'll check on these folks again next time I'm at the Archives.
There are also some records of Dalys at St. Michaels in Huntley - mostly as
Godparents etc.
For example, this one:
Gibbons / Gribbons?, Richard
son of Gibbons, Alexander and Daly, Anne
was born 9/19/1870
witnesses were Daly, Patrick & Bowes, Teresa
... Al

Hello Al:
That you so much for your response and it so nice of you put the Post.
Hopefully some one will help us out with the Brennans or Barrys. Some of the
Brennans moved to Pontiac County.
I know of three in Barry family. One son Patrick (Pat)
One daughter married to Luke Finnigan lived near Quyon
Another daughter married to a Nash.
Spelling is confusing as the Headstone for Richard Daley Mary's name is
spelt Byrnes.
I appreciate your help
