Abraham BOLAND / BOWLAND and Mary McBRIDE
Ireland to Bytown to Renfrew County
February 15, 2005:
I am trying to find information on the following:
Abraham Boland / Bowland from County Armagh Ireland c.1828 married Mary McBride
from County Donegal Ireland.
They married in Bytown about 1828-30 and their first born son William was born
in 1831 and baptized at Christ Church Cathedral Bytown (Anglican) in 1833.
They then went to the Eganville area where Abraham had a stopping place at
Cedar Rapids just west of Eganville. No doubt Abraham met John Egan, for whom
Eganville is named, in Aylmer, Quebec as that is also where he probably met his
wife to be Mary McBride.
I would appreciate any information anyone might have on the family of Mary McBride
and / or Abraham Boland, as well as any possible sources of info.
Many thanks

Hi Al
I believe there is a good chance that the Boland in the McCabe List is the
Boland who is my ancestor. I am not 100% sure but four of his sons had the same
names as his brothers in Ireland. He also came from County Armagh townland of
Grange and the year of 1829 is when he was probably in the Bytown/Aylmer area.
Thanks for your assistance and I have no objection to adding the above to the
Boland page.
Regards Bob
PS Another ancestor of mine was Nathaniel James came to the Lanark County area
about 1830--1840 and then went with his family to the Renfrew area around
Douglas, Ont.
He was the father of my great grandmother and she married George one of Abraham's sons.
