William BRADLEY and Elizabeth BRADLEY
County Wexford, Ireland to Goulbourn Township (Hazledean) in 1818
also John BRADLEY (1808 - 1858) and Ann MORGAN
August 11, 2008:
Hello everyone, My name is Margaret Clemett. My Great Great Great Grandparents William and
Elizabeth Bradley emigrated to Canada from County Wexford in 1818 with their 5 sons and 1
daughter and settled in Goulbourn Township in the Hazeldean area of Carleton County.
In chronological order of birth their children are as follows:
Ann 1799 Born Wexford County, Ireland
Joshua 1800 Born Wexford County, "
Jacob 1806 Born Wexford County, "
John 1808 Born Wexford County, " John 1808 - 1858
I am a descendant of John and his wife Ann (Morgan) Bradley who married in this area about
1835 or a surrounding Township. Shortly after the birth of my Great-Grandfather Thomas
Bradley born in Goulbourn Township on August 17, 1836.
Note: I have not be able to obtain records of John and Ann's marriage or a record of
Thomas Bradley's birth.
About 1838 or 1839 John and Ann migrated south to Huron County, McGillivary Township to
settle on McGuire Road, along with several of Ann's brothers the Morgans who also came
from the area near Ottawa.
Note: This part of McGillivary Township is now part of Middlesex County.
Note: Their eldest child Thomas Bradley later known as Dr. Thomas Bradley MD. There may
have been a daughter possible Alice Bradley who died in birth and is buried in Goulbourn
Township.
Note: Back to a continuation of William and Elizabeth Bradley's family.
William Bradley ( Junior ) 1810 Born in Wexford County, Ireland.
Samuel Bradley 1816 Born in Wexford County, Ireland.
Would any of you have records on these Bradley's that would help me to complete my genealogy,
this would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to contact me by email: clemett@bmts.com
Please note: If any of you are attempting to research your family members, please try
researching McGillivary Township, Biddulph Township and surrounding areas of Lucan and
Clandeboye areas library archives, there were many sons and daughters migrated south to
take up farming in Huron County (now Middlesex County about the 1837 era ) from Goulbourn and
surrounding townships. I do know for McGillivary Township the library is located at Ailsa
Craig Township library. For Lucan the library is located in Lucan, Ontario.
Do hope I have been some help in your research.
Added note:
Lewis, Armstrong and Bradley families are all buried in the Saint James Anglican church
yard on Highway 8, between Lucan and Clandeboye, Ontario.
Note: From the Clandeboye and Lucan areas many of their sons and daughters moved north to
the Bervie area to take up farming here in Bruce County, Kincardine Township, Huron Township
and Bruce Township, about 1861, at the time my Great-Grandfather Dr. Thomas Bradley MD set
up his practice as well as farming in this area of Kincardine, Ontario.
Cordially,
... Margaret A Clemett

Hi. I just found your page on line. I am also a descendent of William and Elizabeth Bradley. I have been working on
the family tree and can’t seem to go further than that. You note on the page that you are part of the family of John Bradley,
William and Elizabeth’s son born in 1808. I trace back through Joshua Bradley, born in 1800.
My Paternal grandmother was Laura Lucinda Bradley. After her husband Charles Kirkland died in the 1919 flu epidemic, she returned
for a time to Hazeldean and taught school in a small one room schoolhouse that sat on the corner of the Bradley farm on the east side of the Hazeldean Road.
They moved to Toronto when one of the Clarke’s left my father a house, on the condition he provide a home for his mother for the rest of her life.
She died in 1953.
Thanks for all of the information you put online.
All the best
Gordon Kirkland

Dear Margaret,
My name is Ashley Wiersma and I think we may be related. I’ve been researching information on my fathers side of
the family when I came across your link Bradley / Morgan. My greatgrandfather was John Clifford Bradley, and his
father, Joshua Bradley, etc. I see some of my great-grandparents listed on this link of yours. Joshua Bradley
and Lucinda Clarke.
Anyways, I noticed at the bottom of the page there was an option to e-mail you, so I thought I would. I don’t know
much about my grandmothers family except they have farmed at the farm since 1818.
Feel free to e-mail me back if you wish. It’s always nice to meet more family! Strange, I never knew Joshua’s parents names.
I hope to hear back from you.

Hi Al,
Just to give you a update on our Bradleys Maynard Francis (Frank) Bradley had started a private Bradley Geni Site, and to
date we have many Bradley descendants of William and Elizabeth Bradley documented.
Frank's email address is: mfbradley@rogers.com
To date we now have 1000's of Bradley descendants from William and Elizabeth Bradley.
We have also connected with each of their 6 children: Ann, Joshua; Jacob; John; William Jr; and Samuel descendants.
Also, William and Elizabeth Bradley Sr. left your area and moved down to McGillivray Township, where my Great-Great- Grandfather John
lived, in Middlesex County. They along with their son Samuel and their daughter Ann, moved there as well with their families
and stayed in that area of South Western Ontario for a few years. When the Government was handing out land in this
area in Bruce County, they all moved north and settled in Kincardine Township, Amabel Twp. and took up farming here in Bruce County.
William Bradley Sr and his wife Elizabeth are buried in the pioneer Anglican Church Cemetery in Bervie, here in Kincardine Township,
Bruce County.
Samuel Bradley and his wife Deborah Whaley and some of their children are also buried in the Kincardine Cemetery here in Kincardine,
Bruce County, ON.
Note: Some children of Samuel and Deborah (Whaley) Bradley , moved to the state of Michigan, USA, in the Bad Axe area.
Some of Ann (Bradley) Johnston's descendants live in the state of Michigan. This information is all documented on
Our Private Bradley Geni Site which is managed by Frank Bradley.
Note: Anyone who may be related to our Bradleys can contact me, or Frank Bradley at his email address.
Note: We have many descendants through-out USA states, and in Ontario; Manitoba; Saskatchewan; Alberta; and British Columbia here in Canada.
You may post this on the Bytown or Bust Site.
Cheers,
Margaret Clemett
