Michael BURNS and Mary SULLIVAN
Manotick Station Road, Osgoode Township

New May 10, 2007:
Thanks to Tony Malo for joining our search for Burns and Sullivans in Osgoode
Township, beginning in the 1840's.

Dear Mr Lewis:

It appears that Micheal Burns is my GGFather (born 1843 Died 1896), his
wife Mary Burns (nee Sullivan, Born 1852 died 1945) passed away in Los Angeles, USA,
and was buried in Vancouver, B.C. I guess that would make us third or forth cousins.

(Note: Michael Burns was the son of Lawrence Burns / Byrnes, 1805-1879,
my GGGrandfather.
Mary Sullivan was the daughter of Nicholas O'Sullivan and Nary McGee, another
of my GGGrandparents.

If the above info meshes with what you know, I will be extremely pleased. The story
that was passed down to us was that Micheal Burns born 1843-died 1896 left the
family farm to wife Mary - nee Sullivan. She stayed on farm with 3 sons and
3 daughters until after 1901. Son John F. Burns born 1880, worked for the rail
ways as a conductor and moved to Vancouver 1911. He bought a harness and
leather shop from his sister Mary (Mamie) Gauthier and husband John. John F Burns
married Gertrude Flynn in 1922 and had 5 children.

Any informaton that you could share with my family and I would greatly appreciated.
We have no idea what became of Michael Burns sons James P (born 1882) and Nicholas (born 1886).
Would you have an obituary for Michael Burns? (died 1896)
Do you know what happened to the farmland that Michael Burns owned after 1901?

Many Thanks

Tony Malo

1950's ... Tony

Unfortunately, these photos lost a lot of their clarity when I converted
them from Tony's Word Document to HTML for the web site.
