Note: The above William CARROTHERS is suspected to be the son of Mathew CARROTHERS, born 1806 Ireland and living in Huron County, Howick Township in the 1871 Census, as follows: CARROTHERS, Mathew, age 65 (b.1806). I could not find Mathew CARROTHERS in any of the other Census’ for the area, in 1851, 1861 or 1881, he only shows up in the 1871 Census. The above William was born in Ireland, therefore if this is indeed the son of Mathew CARROTHERS, then Mathew must have been married before he immigrated to Canada. The Indication for the above William in the 1901 Census was that he immigrated to Canada in 1845. Notes: 1. From all of the above Census data, and dates of the children and where they were born, it is highly unlikely that these CARROTHERS families immigrated to Canada in 1836/37, but rather in the mid 1840s. There are many other CARRUTHERS families located in and around the Westminster Township, Middlesex County area, but all of these families indicated their Origin as being “Scottish” or “English” and I have Census 1881: Place: Huntley, Carleton, Ontario, Canada Source: FHL Film 1375867 NAC C-13231 Dist 108 SubDist G Div 1 Page 11 Family 47: Robert CURETHORS, Male, Married, Age 37, Origin Irish, Born Ontario, Occ: Farmer, Church of England Sarah CURETHORS, Female, Married, Age 31, Origin Irish, Born Ontario, Church of England (nee: Humphries) Anny CURETHORS, Female, Age 12, Origin Irish, Born Ontario, Church of England Deborah CURETHORS, Female, Age 9, Origin Irish, Born Ontario, Church of England George CURETHORS, Male, Age 6, Origin Irish, Born Ontario, Church of England Hanah CURETHORS, Female, Age 5, Origin Irish, Born Ontario, Church of England William CURETHORS, Female, Age 3, Origin Irish, Born Ontario, Church of England Alfred CURETHORS, Female, Age 1, Origin Irish, Born Ontario, Church of England Huntley United Cemetery, Huntley, Carleton County, Ontario Cemetery Stone Inscription: Robert Carruthers 1840-1920 His Wife Sarah Humpheries 1849-1884 Minerva 1873-1877 Alice Maud 1870-1877 Deborah 1872-1916 CARRUTHERS Census 1881: Place: Alleyn & Cawood, Pontiac, Quebec, Canada Source: FHL Film 1375862 NAC C-13226 Dist 98 SubDist H Page 4 Family 16: Atchison CARRUTHERS, Male, Widower, Age 36, Origin Irish, Born Ontario, Occ: Farmer, Church of England Jamima CARRUTHERS, Female, Age 10, Origin Irish, Born Quebec, Church of England Fredrick CARRUTHERS, Male, Age 9, Origin Irish, Born Quebec, Church of England Deborah CARRUTHERS, Female, Age 7, Origin Irish, Born Quebec, Church of England Christopher CARRUTHERS, Male, Age 4, Origin Irish, Born Quebec, Church of England Elizabeth CARRUTHERS, Female, Age 3, Origin Irish, Born Quebec, Church of England Census 1881: Place: Aylwin, Ottawa, Quebec, Canada Source: FHL Film 1375861 NAC C-13225 Dist 97 SubDist JJ Page 20 Family 71: James MOLYNEUX, Male, Married, Age 39, Origin Irish, Born Ontario, Occ: Farmer Rebecca MOLYNEUX, Female, Married, Age 28, Origin Irish, Born Quebec (nee: McConnell, 2nd Wife) Samuel MOLYNEUX, Male, Age 8, Origin Irish, Born Ontario Sarah Jane MOLYNEUX, Female, Age 6, Origin Irish, Born Quebec Mary Isabela MOLYNEUX, Female, Age 4, Origin Irish, Born Quebec Elizabeth MOLYNEUX, Female, Age less than 1, Born: Mar; 1/12, Origin Irish, Born Quebec NOTE: James Molyneux's first wife was Debora Carruthers, daughter of Noble, she died in 1870) Census 1881: Place: Alleyn & Cawood, Pontiac, Quebec, Canada Source: FHL Film 1375862 NAC C-13226 Dist 98 SubDist H Page 4 Family 14: George CARRUTHERS, Male, Married, Age 29, Origin Irish, Born Ontario, Occ: Farmer, Church of England Elizabeth A.
