Note: All of the above children were born in Ireland, therefore this family must have 
immigrated to Canada after 1842, not sure where this Joseph belongs, but he is living amongst all of the other related Carrothers in the 1851 Census. He also shows up in the 1871 Census at age 78 years old, and residing in Bosanquet Township, as both of his sons, William and James also show up in the 1871 Census in Bosanquet Township at ages  30 and 38 respectively.

Note: It is interesting to note that John and George were both born in the USA, 
while the first child, Jane and the remaining children were born in Upper Canada. 
This Robert is thought to be another son to Bracky Two Carrothers, the brother of 
George Carrothers that married Elizabeth (Bessie) Carrothers. Robert must have left 
Ireland bef. 1839, and came to Upper Canada first then to the USA abt 1840, and back 
to Upper Canada abt 1842.

Note: The above William CARROTHERS is suspected to be the son of Mathew CARROTHERS, 
born 1806 Ireland and living in Huron County, Howick Township in the 1871 Census, as 
follows: CARROTHERS, Mathew, age 65 (b.1806). I could not find Mathew CARROTHERS in 
any of the other Census’ for the area, in 1851, 1861 or 1881, he only shows up in the 
1871 Census. The above William was born in Ireland, therefore if this is indeed the 
son of Mathew CARROTHERS, then Mathew must have been married before he immigrated to Canada. 
The Indication for the above William in the 1901 Census was that he immigrated to Canada 
in 1845.

Notes:
1. From all of the above Census data, and dates of the children and where they were born, 
it is highly unlikely that these CARROTHERS families immigrated to Canada in 1836/37, but 
rather in the mid 1840s. There are many other CARRUTHERS families located in and around 
the Westminster Township, Middlesex County area, but all of these families indicated their 
Origin as being “Scottish” or “English” and I have
