Hi My name is Ernie Kilroe.
I am related to the Douras family thru the Marriage of Mary Douras
[daughter of James Douras and Hanora Gleeson] to H. McCarthy. Henry McCarthy's first
wife was Ann Kilroe my great aunt. I have some pics of the
Douras Family James and Hanora [ I think.] Also some of Vincent McCarthy son of
Henry and Mary.

Hi,
I am descended from John Gleeson, sister to Honora Gleeson. The photo
you have on the website is not James Douras, but John Gleeson, who
immigrated to South Dakota in 1879 with his family. The photo of the
woman is of Honora Gleeson. I have copies of both the photos.

Hello
My Name is Cathy, I am doing a family tree as a favor for my neighbor. Her husband is directly
related to James Douras and Catharine Bourke. They are also related directly to the Rooney family
families of Goulbourn and Nepean. I have mangaged to untangle some of the mysteries surrounding
these families, however could always use more information to make sure things get done
correctly. Perhaps we could collaborate and help each other out. I would love to be able to
put the picture of Hanora in her tree. Ethels mother in law attended the Monaghan family
reunion.....i think it was in 1995....and chatted with all sorts of people there. Her name
was Kathleen Mabel Moore. Her sister Marion managed to get a picture of the shawl James Douras
used while in the war(1812)...what a beautiful shawl(still looks beautiful, considering its
age. She also managed to get pics of Manning Monaghan etc.
Please let me know if you are interested in Collaborating!
I look forward to hearing from you.
Cathy

Hello,
I just saw a post regarding a Cathy that spent time “untangling” the Douras family! I have reached a dead end and
would love to share my information and see where we get!
I look forward to hearing back!
Sincerely,

Cathy has already replied to Amy. Does anyone else have more information regarding the early Douras family?
Or the Currier family? "It was a Currier grandfather that married a Douras. Please let me know if you would like
any more information that can both help your website as well as my research." ... Amy

Hello Cathy,
My name is Ann Gilchrest and I have been researching the Douras family for about 25 years.
I would love to share information. My line is
Daniel Douras and Jane Fullan (Daniel is the brother of James who married Hanora)
there son Charles Douras and Catherine Lennon may be Lannon
there daughter Elizabeth Jane Douris and Thomas Jefferson Richardson
there daughter Cecilia Richardson and Hubert Schindler who are my grand-parents.
From what I have found it appears that Daniel and James's father James married second to Catherine Bourke / Burke
and she was their step-mother.
Ann

Al,
You may also include me for the Currier family if it fits the geographic boundaries focused on by Bytown.net.
I am in great need of connecting to Curriers!
Here is my direct Currier line….
Antoine Currier (probably born Quebec) m. Mary Douras (born Ireland resided in Goulbourn with
father James Douras b. 1780 Ireland)
Their son Francis Currier* ( baptized St. Phillips, Richmond) m. Frances McGuire (daughter of Hugh McGuire and Jane Gougherty of
Bagot Township
Renfrew County, Ontario, CAN for census 1851).
Their son James Currier m. Margaret Foran (daughter of Patrick Foran and Bridget McMinimen / Sebastopol,
Renfrew-Bonnechere Valley, Ontario,CAN for census 1871).
Their son Harold Currier m. Helen Carlind (born Toronto, baptized Montreal).
*Francis Currier and Fanny McGuire lived in and ran a lodge in Bonnechere. Currier Lake in the provincial park is named after them,
Bonnechere Provincial Park. The LeFleur / Lafleur homestead there is originally the Currier property. Currier’s moved west to
Webbwood where my grandfather was born and then came to Detroit, Michigan, USA.
If doing something with the Currier name would benefit your website I would gladly pass along / post/etc. my complete research.
I am a novice and take instruction well!!!!!!
All the best,
Amy Currier Kleinlein
