SULLIVAN, LEFURGY, COYNE and FINUCANE
Upper Ottawa Valley
December 18, 2003:
Dear Al,
Just a note to say how much information I found on your site regarding the Coyne's
and Finucane's which are my Grandmother's family. I am searching for information
on the Lefurgy and Sullivan's which are my Grandfather's parents. Helen Sullivan
was born in Sheenboro, Quebec and married John Lefurgy. My Grandfather John Lefurgy
was born in Mackey Station on Sept. 18, 1885 and married Anna Mary Coyne in 1905.
I have no dates or places of birth for my Great Grandparents and have not been able
to trace them any further then the above info. compared to my Grandmother which I
have traced back to Malachy O'Gorman.
Any help or suggestion as where to look would be greatly appreciated, and Thank you
for the inf. on my Grandmother's family.
Sincerely,
Mary

Dear Al,
No, I don't mind if you start a web page for those names. Just email me the
address so I can see it. I'm more interested in the Sullivan name since I have so
much on the Coynes & Finucanes. The Lefurgy name is Normand and not Irish, and
I think that is why I am having a problem with it.

December 24, 2003:
Dear Al,
My Finucanes are through Patrick Finucane & Mary Hughes. Their daughter Mary Jane
married Edward Coyne (Coin), son of Patrick Coyne (Coin) & Elizabeth Donovan in
Our Lady of Holy Angels church on November the 12, 1888. The 1881 census shows
my Great Grandmother being 17 years old. So her birth is approx. 1864 and not
1870 which I have seen in the Mormon Records.
What I have on the Lefurgy & Sullivan line is just my Grandfather's baptism
cert. which states that John Arthur Lefurgy was christian in St. Ann's church when
he was almost 14 years old. It states that he is the son of John Lefurgy & Helen
Sullivan and was born Sept. 18, 1885 and baptized August 2, 1899. Sponsors,
Grandmother, Mary Lefurgy. My mother thinks that he had family ties to Quebec.
I was told that his father John died young and that John's father found better
land in the Chapeau area and moved the family there. He was in South Porcupine
during the terrible fire that killed many in 1911. He took his family and his
horses into the lake to keep from burning. Later he took many of the dead up
to what my Mom calls Deadman's Point.
This is my website which you are welcome to use.
