The Henry FLYNN family from Maniwaki, Quebec
and James HUNTER, Ottawa to Maniwaki

November 28, 2011:

Good morning,

I am doing research on our family and for my husband's side I have hit a bit of a wall and would like to know if you were
able to help me?

My husband's great grandfather James Henry Hunter was baptized in Maniwaki, Quebec in 1897 with his "adopted" father Henry Flynn.
The Baptism states with conditions and that his father (James') was named John Hunter of Ottawa.

I know that the 1901 census shows the Flynn's living in Maniwaki and that James is the adopted son.

I can't find any birth registration for James nor any information (marriage, death) for his biological father John???
There is no mention of mother for James.

This is important to my husbands family as there have been so many different stories passed through the years and James was
very quiet about his life.

His adopted father passed away in 1936 in Carleton Place and his adopted mother Bridgett Flynn died in 1902 in Maniwaki.

All we know was that the Flynn's were supposedly related to Hunter.

Any information you can help with would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Charlene Kavanaugh
New December 10, 2011: Mr. Roger Flansberry sent in about a dozen terrific photos today, including the following picture of Harry Flynn, who was the Mayor of Maniwaki, Quebec, in 1915-16. Does anyone know if the lady with him is his wife, Marguriete? Is this Harry Flynn the same man as Henry Flynn mentioned in the text above?
