A trip down memory lane for an old student at Glashan in the 1950's, Grades 7 and 8:
I remember lots of hockey and football in the school yard. Glashan school, at the
corner of Kent and Arlington Streets was fed by students from several elementary
schools such as Cambridge Street School, Percy Street School and Kent Street Public School.
Also, First Avenue Public School in the Glebe.
In 1888, a one-room school, Hugh Street, was opened on the Glashan site, with one
teacher and 99 students. Growth was so rapid that in 1892 a replacement school was
built which, by 1931, grew to a three-story facility. The school's name was changed
in 1905 to Glashan, honouring the inspector who supervised the board from 1876 to
1910. In 1979 a new Glashan school was built on the site.

Hi Al
Here is a picture of Glashan Public school in 1905. I grew up just down the street
from this school and I have many fond memories of playing in the schoolyard.
