Al:
    I am interested in locating the ancestors and descendants of John
Goodwin and Sophia Moreland(my gg grandparents) who immigrated from
County Kildare (I believe) about 1840 and settled in Bytown. They had a
number of children that I know of, namely William who was married to a
Margaret Malloy. Margaret died in Ottawa in the 1880's. Elizabeth who
was married to an Andrew Cross who died in Ottawa in 1869 and Elizabeth
died in the 1880's in Ottawa. Charles(my g grandfather) was a contractor
in Ottawa and died in 1868. He was married to an Anna Carroll, a
daughter of Michael Carroll and Ann Larkins / Larkin. Another son was James
Goodwin who was also a contractor in Ottawa and an alderman on the
Ottawa Council during the 1850's and 1860's. He married a Julia Brophy,
a daughter of John Brophy and Jane Byrnes. James died in 1883. A daughter
Harriett married a George Whelen / Whelan. She died in 1861 I believe. Another
daughter Maria was married to a William Richardson. I believe she lived
in Clarendon, PQ.
    I have been unable to determine the parish in Kildare where they
originated. I am also interested in finding any descendants who may
still be in the Ottawa area.

Julia d.1876  James 1885 both bur: Notre Dame Cem.
 
I did see the  marvelous tombstone for James Goodwin in Notre Dame Cem.

Note:
My optometrist is a Goodwin. Not sure if it's the same family, but last time I visited
him he told me that my original optometrist from the 1950's was his grandfather. I believe
the grandfather was also an alderman or councillor for Ottawa.  ... Al

The family moved from the Farrellton area to Eau Claire, Wisconsin in the early 1880s. 
Candis Miles, whose spouse is a direct descendant, supplied the data for this line. 
Thomas Carroll is the son of my gggrandfather, Kieran Carroll (not likely a relation to 
Anna Carroll).
