Pierce GRACE and Julia REGAN
also GRANT and MURPHY
October 12, 2002:
Hello:
I am searching for genealogical information on the families of Pierce Grace, born 1814
in Kilkenny, Ireland, died 1880 in Ottawa, wife Julia Regan, born 1813 in Tipperary,
Ireland, died November 1869 in Ottawa. and children who settled in Bytown in 1836 by
way of Newfoundland. When they arrived in Bytown, they were listed as having one daughter
(name unknown) born in Ireland, one daughter Anastasia born 1836 in St. John's,
Newfoundland, one daughter Mary Alice born 1842 in Ottawa, on son Edward Alexander born
1847, Ottawa.
Daughter Anastasia married Michael J. O'Boyle 1854 in Ottawa, who was the son of Thomas
O'Boyle and Mary Clynes. He died before 1871. I have found record of only one child
being born names Julia Grace O'Boyle born 1856 and died 1920, never married.
Daughter Mary Alice married Thomas James Burke in 1864 and he died in 1866. No record
of any children so far found.
Son Edward Alexander also known and William? moved to the US., married, divorced and
ended up back in Ottawa with his 2 widowed sisters where he died in 1911.
This family were parishioners of St. Patrick's church downtown Ottawa. (Kent Street)
Note: There was a John Grace, also from Kilkenny, in Bytown by 1829.

Hi there
I put my name into google search today and I came
across your website searching for Graces in Kilkenny.
My name is Michael Grace and my father was born in Graignamanagh, which is a
village in southern County Kilkenny. My Grandfathers name was Pierce Grace, who
sadly passed in September 2001, aged 85.
My fathers reckoning is that the Pierce Grace that you are searching for
could have been perhaps an uncle of his or a relative, because there are
still Pierces in the family. ie my full name is Michael Pierce Patrick
Grace.
I hope this of use to you and my father is going to ask some of our family
members for any additional information that might benefit you.
All the best
Michael Grace

Hi Michael and Betty:
I remember you telling me once that a man named "GRACE" came to Canada with your
ancestors. Was his first name Pierce?
An e-mail just came in from a Michael Pierce Grace (above) from County Kilkenny who thinks
he may be related to some of the Grace family who came to the Ottawa area.

February 28, 2007:
Hello,
My name is John Grace from Co. Tipperary Ireland. The Christian name Pierce is in our family
for generations. My own Fathers and great gran-fathers mane was Pierce as is my son. Our family
and some relations have a tradition of ironcraft – blacksmiths, farriers etc. I think some of
my fathers people emigrated to America.
Best regards
... John Grace

William Edward GRACE went to Idaho, USA
Hi!
I found your series of emails today, after doing a search for Pierce Grace.
I am so greatful for the information that you had on there, and I thought I would
add some additional information for one of the sons. My family records show the
son as having the full name of William Edward Grace, with a birth date of
13 October, 1847. He married a Margrett McCulloch, from Scotland, supposedly in
Weston, Idaho, USA, on 18 August 1878. Family legend has it that he was working on
the railroad in the US, but I have found nothing to corroborate this.
Thank you so much for the information that you posted on the website!
