Michael McNAMARA and Bridget McCORMICK
also Richard HARDGROVE
March 20, 2003:
Hi Al,
Here is my McNamara tree from South Gloucester. They arrived circa 1842 from Tipperary.
It is not known what happened to the parents. The daughter Bridget married to Richard Hardgrove,
a blacksmith settled in South Gloucester on Rideau Rd. Probably the younger McNamara sisters
lived with her until they marrried. Margaret McNamara later married James McEvoy of Bowesville.
Richard Hardgrove and his family were gone from Gloucester by the 1871 census and it is not
known where they went after. I am told by David Nolan of Bowesvile that the blacksmith shop
remained in that spot on Rideau Rd. near Bank Street until the late 1900s on the Goth land.
Regards,
Joan McEvoy Rooney

March 21, 2003:
Hi Al,
Thanks for the baptism for the Hardgrove child. I got most of the children's ages
from the census. Some of the later ones I found in the Visitation records.
By the way, the John WALL that Anna McNamara married was one of the Walls, whose family
had a store in Lowertown.
Good hunting,
Joan Rooney
April 1, 2003:
Hi Al & Joan,
Just dropped in for a quick visit & came upon the Hardgrove name. I am rather busy
this week but wanted to let you know that the Hardgroves settled in Maniwaki, Quebec & I have
a file on them since Marguerite / Margaret Hardgrove (William/Richard & Bridget McNamara)
married my gggrandfather Charles Dougherty in Maniwaki. There is also a granddaughter of
Richard & Bridget who still lives here & I know the family. There gravesites are also here.
If either one of you is interested , drop me a line & I will get back to you as soon
as I can.
