Thomas HAWKINS from County Wicklow, Ireland
to Lanark County, Ontario, Canada
ML# 250
May 23, 2008:
Hi Al,
Just to report that I'm closing in on Thomas Hawkins, ML #250, (McCabe List) from Colmanstown,
Kiltegan parish, County Wicklow. I do believe he's the attached Thomas (plus brother, Henry)
in Lanark County, living among so many Protestant families from Wicklow. We'll see what comes
up for proof.
John says (in an intro.) that there are Hawkins who "lived around Colvinstown townland
but it's referred to sometimes as Calvinstown." And you know how many of the place names on
the ML are spelled phonetically (Nakerumkal for Knockatomcoyle)? I would guess that
Colvinstown is the place called Colmanstown where the ML Thomas Hawkins came from.
Here are Thomas Hawkins and his wife Elizabeth in the 1852 census. They are neighbours of
the Griffith family:
From that Ontario marriages website, I found these marriages of daughters of Esau Hawkins
and Elizabeth Condell of Lanark:
Page 78, return by Rev. John Kerr McMORRINE, Church of England

And I lucked out on another front: I found a new Fitzwilliam body in Adjala: the widow
Rachel Foster:
