William HEBERT and Unknown McKINLY / McKINLEY
Montcerf and Maniwaki area
New June 12, 2005:

Hello,
I am here with my 92 year old mother who is a Hebert and who's great-grandfather was
William Hebert married to a McKinly / McKinley that lived in Maniwaki.

I am sure if you go to Montcerf which is a small town about 15 miles north of Maniwaki,
there is an organisation there that has all the books and registars about these Hebert.
My mother's father was called William Hebert, who' father was called William Hebert,
who's parents were William Hebert and McKinley.

My mother does not know all about her great grand father, but she knows more about her
grand father which had lived most of his life in Maniwaki.

My mother just told me that all the books and registrer have been brought in Gatineau
at the archives. Also, I would like to say that I know that on some tombstones in
the old Assumption church cemetary where my mothers' parents and grand parents are
buried, I have on some McKinley and others like Donahue / Donohue: born in Ireland.
Hope this information will be valuable for your research.

My mother just told me that her father kept a custom which came from his native
Ireland which was to have a shamrock plant in their house. Apparently this tradition
is an indication of the region he came from.

Also, the genealogy research center that I mentioned in my letter actually is still
in Montcerf and the web link included.
