Jacob HOLLINGER family
Switzerland to Ottawa to Renfrew County to Missouri, USA

New March 20, 2006:

Michele-

While searching on my grandfather's name, Job Hollinger I found your message addressed
to the people searching on the Moore family. From what you said
it looks as if you sent my father a letter. My father passed away on July 2, 1997.
My grandfather was Job Hollinger, his mother was Elizabeth (Loftus) Hollinger, he was
born on October 25, 1926. My great-grandfather's name was John Michael Hollinger his
wife was Maria(h) Moore, they were both born in Canada. I have seen my great grandfather's
headstone in Pembroke, Ontario Canada, he lived from 1824-1913, if my memory is serving
   me well.
My grandfather, Job Hollinger was born in Eganville, Ontario Canada in, I believe,
April of 1860, he came to Kansas City, MO, USA, in approximately 1884, I heard that
he had many brothers and I think one or two sisters, what I have found out is
fragmented, but everything I've said so far is pretty reliable.

The first Hollinger in North America was Jacob Hollinger, he was from Switzerland,
and at one time was in the employ of the British army, he was subsequently given a
land grant in Canada and that explains his son John Hollinger being buried in
Pembroke, Ontario Canada. He was buried there because there was not a Catholic
cemetery in Eganville, Ontario, which is where he raised his family.

Jacob Hollinger married a Sicilian named Teresa Polastari ( I'm not 100% certain
about the spelling, but I'm at least close.) I believe my great-grandfather's
first wife died young (Maria Moore) and I believe he next married Sarah Sutherland.

I would be delighted to hear from you, because, after all, we are certain to be cousins.

Sincerely - John M. Hollinger, jr.
