Seeking info on Margaret HOWLEY, who was born about 1820 in Ireland. She was
the daughter of John HOWLEY and Mary Unknown. She married an unknown
HARRISON and had son John, in Brady's Bend about 1848. Also had son
Michael, place unknown. I think Mr. HARRISON died, and Margaret remarried
a Thomas FITZGERALD and had my great grandfather in Ottawa, Canada.
they moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA about 1865.
Margaret had a brother Thomas, who was the father of 20+ kids.
One of them may have been named Frank.

Thanks to Sue for the following international detective work!
There is a Thomas Harrison, aged 30, born in Ireland and his wife Margaret Harrison,
aged 30, born in Ireland, in the 1850 Wilkins, Allegheny, Pa census. With them are
their 3 children (all born in Pennsylvania): Michael (4), John (2) and Mary
(5 months old).
I think Thomas Harrison died sometime between 1850 and 1855, as Margaret then goes
up to Canada and has more children with 2nd husband Thomas Fitzgerald. This family
is found in the 1870 Larimaer, Somerset, PA census as:
Thomas Fitzgerald, 37, born Canada
Margaret, 46, born Ireland
Michael, 24, born Pa
John, 21, born Pa
Patrick, 15, born Canada
Thomas, 13, born Canada
James, 11, born Canada
Catherine, 15, born Canada
Maggie, 5 born Pa.
Obviously sons Michael and John (Harrison) were enumerated under their step-father's
Fitzgerald name. As daughter Maggie was born abt 1865 in Pa, this would appear to
agree with the 1865 departure from Canada to Pa. This Thomas Fitzgerald family
should show up somewhere in the 1861 Canadian census.
Also, if Margaret is the daughter of the John Howley who is in the 1851 Gloucester
census, then her brother Timothy married twice: First to Susan Fitzgerald who died
before 1870, then to Catherine Ralph on the 11th of Jan 1870 in Osgoode Township.
(The RALPH family farm was on the Manotick Station Road, just south of Mitch Owens Road.
Today it is the location of the Orchard View Retirement Residence ... Al).
On his 2nd marriage registration, Timothy (called Thadeus on this marriage registration),
a widower, says that he was born in County Sligo, Ireland. Timothy and Catherine can
be found in the 1881 Osgoode census with his 3 of his sons from his first marriage and
6 children from his 2nd marriage.
Hope this helps,
... Sue
