Good evening:  I’ve been scouring the Ottawa Public Library, Archives and land registry 
records trying to find anything that will give me information on the Johnston family that 
came to Upper Canada from (supposedly County Cavan) Ireland in the 1820s or early 1830s.  
What I have so far is: 

Samuel Johnston b. circa 1803 married Sera / Sarah (Barton?) b. circa 1804; he was a farmer 
in Huntley township; had a 2 storey log house in 1851 in Carp

-          they had 8 – 10 children, one of whom was James b. 14 Feb 1839 married Rachel Shaw 
           b . 25 Oct. 1841

-          they had 9 -10 children, one of whom was John Robert b. 25 Nov 1864 married 
           Sara Allen b. 7 Jan 1864

-          they had five children, one of whom was George Elliott, b 22 Oct 1902 (Carp) 
           married Olive Olga Crevier b. 10 July 1918 ; George was previously married to 
		   Frances Wilson, also of Carp 

I do have some dates of death but mostly what I am looking for is the beginning part – how 
they got here from Ireland, when exactly, and if possible, what they did.  Any help you can 
offer would be appreciated.
