Patrick LENNON and Elizabeth MOULTON
Ireland to Lanark County, Ontario, Canada
August 8, 2011:
Hi Allan;
Many thanks for your quick response to my email message. As well, thanks for the correction as well as other interesting tid-bits
that you sent me. No, I do not have any photographs of James LENNON / LINNEN or that branch of the family. Should I come across
any I will most certainly pass them on to you.
I descend from James' younger brother Patrick LENNON, (1798 - 1859) who arrived in Canada together with James on the same ship I believe
in the fall of 1817. Patrick was granted 100 acres of land in Lanark county, township of Lanark, specifically the north east half
of lot #13, concession #11. He married Elizabeth MOULTON (1803 - 1869); born in Barragh Parish of Carlow county, Ireland, daughter of
Joseph C. MOULTON, (abt 1760 - ). Patrick & Elizabeth had a total of 11 children: Frances (1824-1913); Ann (1827-1912); William (1829-1924);
Catherine (1834-1865); Elizabeth (1835-?); Mary Frances (1836-?); Susan (1839-?); John (1841-?); Robert (1843-1879);
Margaret (1846-1910) & Sarah (1849-?).
I have been studying notes that I received several years ago from a 3rd cousin - once removed who has since passed on. The cousin was
Alma THOMSON (nee LINNEN) (1921-1999) - a descendant of James LINNEN / LENNON. From what I have learned so far, James and Patrick had
another brother by the name of Hugh LINNEN / LENNON, born about 1794 in Ireland, who arrived sometime afterwards. He resided in Goulbourn Township
and is mentioned in several census returns. However in the year 1871, he is registered in South Gower township. This Hugh was married to a Catherine _____ (see Church record, below)
and they had several children all born in Canada with the exception of one - a James LINNEN, born in 1834 in the United States.
I would love to be able to fill in more information on this branch of the LENNON/LINNEN family tree and my hope is that someone reading
this just might be able to assist me. Any and all information would be welcomed and appreciated.
Thanks again Allan.
Best regards.
... Cyril Peplinskie

And here's a baptism of a child born to Hugh Lennon and Catherine O'Neil in 1844:
25 June 1844
Baptism of Catherine, born 30 May, legitimate daughter of Hugh Lennon & Catherine O'Neil.
The sponsors were Edward Moore & Mary O'Nail. Love the Irish accent!
