LYNOTT and McMANUS families
Bytown and Cantley, Quebec
April 16, 2007:
I am researching the Mcmanus family who immigrated to the Bytown area and
settled in the Chelsea, Quebec, area.
Rosana McManus b.1811 Ireland, m. 26 Sep 1836 at Ottawa, Notre-Dame Church
to Michael Lynott, d. 2-Apr-1911 Cantley, Quebec, Canada, buried 4-Apr-1911
at St Elizabeth's Cemetery, Cantley QE. Notes on Roseana: Mariage record
at Notre-Dame D'Ottawa gives her name as Betsy McManus, Witness Barny Gorman
and Barny McManus. There is no Cantley Cemetery Tombstone to indicate that
she is buried with Michael, however her burial is recorded in the St. Elizabeth's
parish register. Rosana is my great, great, grandmother.
Hannah (Anna) McManus, b. 1790 Ireland, m. 22 Nov 1837 at Notre-Dame De L'Ottawa,
Ottawa Ont. to Ulick Lynott, d. 7 Mar 1850, buried St. Stephen's RC Cem. Old
Chelsea, Que. Note: Ulick’s brother Michael married Roseanna McMannus presumed
to be sisters. Witness at marriage Bary McManus and M. Lynott. Given name
at wedding was Anna.
I am seeking information about the Mcmanus families from the Ottawa area in
the early 19th century that may provide information as to the parents of
Hannah and Rosana Mcmanus.

Yes start a new web page. Hannah and Rosana were sisters and Michael and
Ulick were brothers. I have a lot of Mcmanus names from the Ottawa area in
the early 19th century that I think are related, but have no source confirmation.
The same applies to the Lynott families of the Cantley and Chelsea area.
