According to The McCabe List, by Professor Bruce Elliott, there
were two Montgomery men who were in the Ottawa area by 1829.

Hugh Montgomery came from Springtown, County Fermanagh (ML# 297).
Gabriel Montgomery came from Swadlinbar in the neighbouring county of Cavan. (ML# 665).

Robert Sample is working at connecting various Montgomery names. E-mail him if you 
are connected to this family. He has some dates going back to the mid 1700's.
