Robert MOSGROVE
County Leitrim, Ireland to Bytown in 1822
May 28, 2007:
Hi Al, Robert Mosgrove was my husband's great granddad, I thought this
obit was most interesting. We found it in the archives in Ottawa. Have you
seen the book Ottawa's Britannia? It chronicles Napean, and the town that
used to be called Mosgrove. The school is still there with the"Mosgrove" on
the front and used as a private residence. At least it was so a few years
age when we were there. Carolyn Mosgrove married William Henry Sixsmith and
they lived at 310 Cooper St. a house which now has a Heritage plaque on it.
We had such an exciting time looking for addresses. Judge William Mosgrove
lived in what is now Britannia and had vineyard and a winery. The grape
vines are perpetuated in the Environmental Gardens. I have a picture of
the taking down of the "Mosgrove St'" sign and putting up a new one. I hope
the obit makes it through to you OK, you will find it interesting, I am
sure.
