Hi Al,
I noticed that your post looking for information on some of the old families of the
Maniwaki, Gracefied Kazabazua area, was from quite a while ago. Are you still looking
for information on them? If so my mother was one of the Plunketts from Farellton,
and my great grandmother was a McCaffery from either Low or Venosta
(I'd have to ask my grandmother). What sort of information are you looking for?
Anyway I'm not far from Farellton or Low so I could look anything up if need be.

Hi Abe:
Thanks very much for your e-mail regarding the PLUNKETT and McCAFFERY families and
your offer to look up information.
I'm mainly interested in folks who settled in the area in the 1800's, and if possible,
where they came from. Anything you can send along on the PLUNKETT or McCAFFERY pioneers
(or other ancestors) would be appreciated.
Thanks again!
... Al Lewis

Well, I'd have to look up information on the McCafferys but the Plunkett's came over in
the early 1800s the (1820s or 30s) Did you want specific genealogical information, or
just an overview? Anyway the first Plunkett to come over was
Michael Plunkett who was a wheelwright from Co. Louth. He came over to work on
the Col. By canal. He settled in Farrelton on what is now Plunkett road. The church
the Plunkett's have been members of since it was built is the Farellton church,
they helped build it in fact. I'm also connected by blood to the
McCambley from Venosta, the Hendrick, the Haveron the Mulvoon, the Hogan, and the O'Connor
families from this area. I don't know much about them, but I could ask my grandmother
(a McCambley) The McCaffreys were here a little later than the Plunketts I think maybe
the late 19th century.

Hi there,
I was just surfing on the net and I came across a note from Abe-Plunkett-Latimer
that his/her grandmother was a McCaffery from Low or Venosta. My grandmother was
Jane McCaffery from that area as well. I wonder is there some connection.
She married Phil Covey /Colby frrom that area somewhere, I believe he was born in
Northern Ireland. I am searching for his father Mathew Covey (Colby) Do you have
any info on this.

My g- grandmother Jane McCaffery was born in 1848, daughter of James McCaffery
and Margaret Ann McCauley from Ireland. I see your grandmother was also Jane McCaffery
but she was the neice of my grandmother---Jane McCaffery, and the daughter of
William McCaffery brother to my grandmother Jane McCAffrey.
I have all of Jane's and William's brother's and sister's if you would like them.
They were both from the Low - Venosta area I guess and I thought they were the
same person at first.
Any info you may have on James McCaffrey and Margaret McCauley would be appreciated.

I was reviewing the bytown website and came across the profile of Michael
Plunkett. I have a bit of information for you relating to James Plunkett
and Annie O'Callaghan. As an O'Callaghan I have some information on
Annie's marriage and where they are buried.
Annie and James where married in St. John the Evangelist Parish in Osgoode
on May 29, 1894. They are both buried in St. Bridgid's Cemetery in Osgoode.
James's Parents where Thomas Plunkett and Ann Brady.
Hope this helps.

Hi All:
Thank you Maureen O'Callaghan for the information that I have now included.
In your email you say that James's parents were Thomas Plunkett and Ann
Brady. I had Ann Bray. Would you please confirm that it should be Ann
Brady. Thanks again. It is great when people spot errors. That is the
way it will all come together.

Yes the name I have is Brady. I got this information from the Parish
register at St.John's. It was in the wedding announcement for James and
Annie.
