Hi,

I saw the picture of the gravestone of Patrick Madden and Sophia on your
web page. I was wondering if you could tell me what cemetery it is in.

Also do you have any more information about Patrick & Sophia (other than
what is on the website)? According to my research, they are my 6 X great
grandparents. Since I am now living in Ireland (I'm Canadian), I am
planning to see if I can find anything further back along this line.

Thanks for any help you can give me (and thanks for your website).

Chris

September 17, 2002: from Kathy Adamson: Hi Al, Taylor, Chris: I have lots of research on the Nepean Madden line. I have never found any record on Patrick or Sophia other than that recent headstone at Fallowfield. Chris if you an send me your descendant line I will see if I can tie you into either Ambrose or Williams line. I am missing the linage of John circa 1805-1811 and a Patrick who married Mary O'Meara. This Patrick went to New York, USA, in 1850's. The Nepean Maddens came from County Tipperary. A few years ago my cousin went to Tipperary to research the Maddens. No links were found but at that time the curate at Borrisokane Parish was Father Jim Madden. Kathy Adamson ================ I probably won't have time to get to sending you the line for a couple of weeks (due to some traveling), however I am related via the Ambrose line via Julia Ann Madden (though I note that in some of your web site (e.g., www.bytown.net/maushane.htm) seem seems to be listed as Judith?) and then through her daughter Julia Ann Shea. I also have some side branches (e.g., the Shea line for a couple of generations before Julia Ann Shea). Chris

Renolds b: 1865 England Clement Renolds b: 1867 England Richard Renolds b: 1869 England Eli Renolds b: 1875 Ontario , Canada Henry Renolds b: 1876 Ontario, Canada I would like to learn the last names of Patrick Madden's wife Mary, and Richard Renold's wife Jemima? (I am assuming this is the correct Richard and Jemima). And where Patrick Madden fits into the Madden clan. I was rooting around recently and found the 'Patrick Madden and Sophia Unknown' site with pictures of their tombstones and it linked me to the whole site. I have previously looked for Maddens and Reynolds but didn't know the Christian names to look for until recently. I would like to find if and how my Maddens are connected to those on the site. I have found your website, both very interesting and helpful, the music a good choice and the maps great. I hope someone will have information regarding the Madden family that will clear up where and if mine fits in. My husband and I also have done work on the MAY clan from the Ottawa Valley. E-mail: jjomay@shaw.ca _______________________ Also posted on January 31, 2003: (a reply from Kathy Adamson) Hello Joyce & All: How wonderful I may be able to help you-I have had this Madden Family from Cumberland for about 20 years. About 1997-99 I was in touch with one of their descendants - give me some time to see if I can locate her file. But first:- about that beautiful head stone at St Patrick, Fallowfield. In a letter from Dr Bruce Elliott-I believe his comment was how unusual to see two octogenarians that died in 1840-that the stone was erected 100 years later and probably in hazy memory. That stone was erected by Patrick Madden of Nepean 1858-1948. Research shows the eldest members of that Madden Family were James Madden circa 1775-1860 and his wife Judy ? 1788-1860 listed on 1842 census. In regards to your research the Maddens of Cumberland township-there was a Patrick Madden lived 1st Concession, Lot 1 on assessment rolls 1847. I do not believe they were related to my Great Grandfather John Madden's line but my G grandmother was godmother to one of his children. Patrick Madden b circa 1796 m date unknown Mary McGurn (McGuire) b 1829 died 2-June-1858, age 38 years, bur: St. Felicite, Clarence Creek children: Elisabeth Madden b circa 1849 John Madden b circa 1846 Thomas Madden b circa 1844 (on 1881 census Buckingham, Quebec listed as a miner, wife Margaret) Katherine Madden b circa 1857 Margaret Madden b circa 1853 Mary Madden bapt: 1853 m 1873 St Andrews Presbyterian, Ottawa William Ferguson Although the children were baptized Catholic after their mother died they were raised by neighbors and some took up the Protestant faith. Give me some time and I will get back to you on this. Kathy Adamson
