March 1, 2004:
I just did a google search on "Cornelius McNally" and your link was the first to
put the two names together. My husband's family are descendents of Cornelius McNally
and your Mary Hanratty. Your website prompted me to go take out the family book that
my father-in-law put together for us in 1997. It mentions many of the same places
as your website and I have visited Calumet Is. and area several times.
It is a beautiful part of the country!
Your website has renewed my interest in the family tree. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Margot McNally

Hi Margot
My name is Kevin McCormick. I was browsing Bytown or Bust and came across
your message. My McCormick's are originally from Vinton, Que. and one of the McCormick
girls married Paul McNally on April 22, 1847 at St Anne's on Calumet island.
Mary McCormick died young at 34 years of age. Mary's parents were Thomas McCormick and
Bridget O'Connor who were also my GGG grandparents. I don't know if Paul and Mary
had children do you have any info. on this line. I know we are talking about the same family.

Hi All,
I am a descendant of Peter Hanratty who, I believe is a brother to Mary Hanratty. (Peter’s wife was also a Mary, but her maiden name was O’Hare).
I found a reference that Peter and Mary’s father might be a Michael Hanratty born in County Louth in 1757 (d. 1836). Do any of you have any info
on this? Or, do you have info on other brothers or sisters of Peter and Mary’s? Any info is appreciated.
... Lisa Wysocky
P.S. I descend from Peter’s son Michael (born 1843). Michael was my great-grandfather. His son, Joseph, was my grandfather. Michael and
his family settled on a farm in Barry, Minnesota, USA, that I now own.

I referred Lisa to another Hanratty family who also had connections to Minnesota and Calumet Island. ... Al
Here is her reply:
Your Peter Hanratty was born too late. I am looking for the parents of the Peter born in Counties Armagh or Louth either in 1791 or 1796 (probably 1791).
Am pretty sure his wife was Mary O’Hare. Peter and Mary did settle on Calumet Island, though in the 1840s. And, I believe his older sister Mary
(who married Cornelius McNally) also settled there with him, so her parentage would also be of interest.
Thanks again!!!!
Lisa

Hi Al,
Re your new page on Patrick Hanratty: I wondered if Patrick could have been this son of Peter Hanratty in 1861 Ile-de-Grand-Calumet (attached).
I remembered the name from my research on the Renfrew County parish records, but can't find it now.
There were Cahills who were near neighbours to the Hanrattys, and I've attached a Hanratty/Cahill marriage that maybe be a union of
those two families in Calumet.
