Hello, 
 
I don't know a lot about my maternal grandfather.  His name was Joseph Edgar Rowan.  All I know is that he was from Pembroke and he made his way
west and homesteaded in the Melfort, Saskatchewan area.  He had three other brothers.  Ted remained in Pembroke and one settled in Peace River, 
Alberta and the last in Okatoks, Alberta.  I don't know if there were any other siblings.
 
I have done Canada 411 and determined that there is a Rowan Drugstore in Pembroke.  I just wondered if you had come across the Rowan name in doing 
your research.  I am going to go to LDS centre here in Winnipeg and look into this.  I am not getting anywhere trying to do it on line.  Please do
not go to any trouble, I just thought perhaps you had come across the name.

he was twice his wife's age.
From the 1901 Census for Renfrew North, Stafford, sub district J-2, page 3 the following;

All of the above are in Renfrew North, Stafford, Ennumeration District 16, page 1 except for Laura who is in Ottawa and Joseph Edgar did not find.

Good morning folks. 

My name is Brian Hogg; I am researching my family tree currently on my mother’s side. Her maiden name is Rowan and her father was Kenneth Rowan. 
Ken was the son of Albert Lorne Rowan and Anne Gray of Elkhorn, Saskatchewan. Albert was the son of John Rowan and Nancy Fraser of Pembroke, 
Ontario which is why I am contacting you folks. I did an internet search on John Rowan of Pembroke, Ontario and I found your post on 
www.bytown.net. Interestingly enough John is the son of one James Rowan that immigrated to Canada from Ireland and resided in Pembroke, 
Ontario. I know it’s a long shot but if you have any information I could use or possibly point me in the direction of a data source that 
may be of help to me I would greatly appreciate it.

How exiting!!!!

My mother and father were both only children so I don't have many relatives.  We could be 10th cousin or something.  
My mother's maiden name was Rowan.  Her father Joseph Edgar homesteaded in Saskatchewan in the Melfort area.  I have some 
info going backwards but I don't have any info on the new generations.   I know that my grandfather had a brother that 
ended up in the Peace River area homesteading and he had a brother Ted that stayed in Pembroke.  Taylor Kennedy was 
kind enough to send me some information.  I have some more info, but I need some computer help to be able to send to you.  
I haven't had time to do any more searching other than what Taylor sent me.  We are trying to get our house in order to 
sell and I am taking two University courses.  So a bit busy.  I do want to get to the LDS centre before we move.
