Elisabeth Sloan married Thomas Lous Descotes not Dennis Descot and
she was born Oct. 13 1884 not 1883 and she did not spell her name with a Z.
They were my great great grandparents.

Hi,
Came across your family lineage information on the bytown or bust website.
Do you have more information on the Mary Anne Kearney 1872-1948 who married
Joseph Sloan 1866-1955. I am pursuing the Kearney family name from the
Ottawa area. Thank you,
Carol

Thanks to Frank Watters for the following:
Hi Al;
While going through the Ste Madeleine de Rigaud, Qc. Drouin microlm, no.
1353, I found the baptism of John SLONE (sic), baptised on 17 June,
1827, born on the 14 June 1827, s/o Peter SLONE and Mary Flanigan. The
godfather was Daniel Bonar?? and the godmother was Anne Daly.
The register did not note where the family lived. John then was a
brother to Patrick married to Josephine Routhier
This could be added to the family file in Bytown or Bust.

February 15, 2006:
My ancestors are John McNeely who married a Mary Sloan. Mary was born approximately
1803 and died in 1853 and is buried at St. Brigid's cemetery on the River Road.
I suspect Mary is another member of this Sloan family just due to local. John McNeely
and Mary Sloan farmed in Manotick on Lot 6 Conc. A. Have any of you run across the
McNeely connection in your Sloan research. She may be a sister to Patrick who
married Josephine Routhier and a daughter to Patrick Sloan and Mary Flanigan??????

I'm getting caught up on some of my historical interests. I was browsing
your website today and read Mary Quinn's request of Feb. 15, 2006. I am
also a descendant of John McNeely and Mary Sloan. I only just discovered
her last name this year. I've found interesting information in the Notre
Dame Parish records and in the assessment rolls for Gloucester Twp. from
1830 to 1840. I've been to the Manotick house of one of John's offspring,
not the original log cabin but the one after that and had an interesting
exchange with its owner. I'm also digging up information from
logging records which could give me more leads. Your Sloan information may
be another lead. Send me an e-mail so that we can exchange information
sometime. My descendance is as follows: John McNeely & Mary Sloane,
Francis McNeely & Mary Elizabeth Lafontaine, Thomas McNeely and Sarah Morin,
Therese McNeely & Conrad Boyer, then me, Gérard Boyer.
Besides the McNeelys, I've just completed the Morin family line from
Cumberland and I will send that infor on to your website as soon as I touch
it up for sharing.

Hi Gerard ~ interested in comparing notes on the McNeely research you
have done. I have been fortunate to receive a fairly extensive McNeely tree
from another one of our connections. Have you been able to connect our
Mary Sloan into this Sloan family?

Hi Garry:
I recently read a book by Michael O`Brien titled " A Cry In Stone ". In it he
states that his 2nd great grandmother was Josephine Routhier an Algonquin from
the Maniwaki Indian Reserve.
http://www.ignatiusinsight.com/features/mbrien_intervw1_july04.asp
Do you know if this can be supported ? Josephine was my 2nd great grandmother
also & i can not make the connection. My lineage is through Patrick Sloan.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Date of death on Memorial stone reads: In memory of Patrick Sloane died Aug. 25.1882
Age 66 yrs. and his wife Josephine Rauthier died Nov. 9 1871 age 46 yrs R.I.P.
Although I consider myself as from the Gatineau, I only spent a short time as a child
with my grandparents and then several years living with my aunt and uncle. I didn’t
get to know many of the distant relatives. Rita McCovic was more closely related
and she was a great researcher. She is now deceased and I don’t have any idea of where
her records went. Hope this helps you a bit. Thanks for your query.

Hi all
I am looking for a picture of Josephine Routhier and Patrick Sloan. Does anyone out there
have one? It would be greatly appreciated. Have never seen one.
I do not have a photo of my greatgrandmother Maria Gleason Ryan (although I am hoping that someone might) -
she died in the 1918 Flu Epidemic, along with one of her daughters, in Lac Ste. Marie.
