Statutory Labour in March Township - 1843
New January 17, 2005:

Statutory labour for road maintenance was a responsibility of landowners
in 1843. This document, which resides in the Kanata Town Hall, lists names
of persons to work on roads in the South March area.

A person's responsibility could be discharged by either contributing
a certain numbers of days work or by paying a levy to the township
to have the work performed.

Thanks to Barb Hadden who has contributed this document in conjunction
with her research on March Township.
