more from Sue ...
The following are interments from St Patrick's in Fallowfield that are NOT in the
Ontario BMD's from 1876 - 1885.
As with baptisms and marriages, I am amazed at what was not registered officially
and therefore not found in the Ontario BMD's which were supposed to be from 1857
(marriages) and from 1869 (births and deaths).

Sue:
I've also noticed, while going through the BMD's at the Family History Centre here
that many civil registrations were not carried out as required by law in the early
days. This was an early intrusion by government into the lives of doctors, church
officials who may have resented having to inform the government. Also, at least
in my ancestors' case, individual citizens were highly suspicious of anyone who
said "I'm from the Government and I'm here to help you". This attitude was later
displayed towards Department of Agriculture representatives who came along to the
farms for inspections and forms to fill out. According to my good friend, Michael Daley,
one of my ancestors, an elderly widow, hunkered down on her farm with a shotgun,
and gave the men who came to inspect her cows for tuberculosis, a hard time.
