June 26, 2003:
"Little is known of the building of St. Paul's church, Osgoode (Anglican).
The diary of Miss Elizabeth Tompkins of Manotick reveals that the cornerstone
made by a parishioner, Solomon Munsell was laid on September 18, 1886, a Saturday.
A picnic was held the same day in aid of funds for a church building. The
Hon. Thomas White was guest speaker and $250 was realized, a considerable sum
in those days. The congregation at Manotick was very small at that time and the
building of a church was considered a great venture, as indeed it was."
