BLIND PIGS AND BEAN SHOOTERS
A story about prohibition, written and directed by Susan M. Flemming
Booze and politics--A volatile mixture.
Take a trip into the past with this lively ride through the election of 1926, where the "wets" were pitted against
the "drys" in an attempt to repeal the Ontario Temperance Act. The Cumberland Heritage Village Museum provides
the perfect backdrop for this story which might tell us as much about the politics of today as it does about history.

September 13, 2011:
"Quarantine"
written by Susan M. Flemming and Marni Hunt-Stephens, directed by Susan M. Flemming
Called the "strangling angel" diphtheria was one of the leading causes of death in children in the 1920s.
When a young girl in a small rural community is stricken with the disease and quarantined, the community reacts;
exposing their fear, their ignorance and in some cases compassion.
"From my window I can see them going to school in the morning. I hear them laughing and carrying on and yelling
at Evelyn because she’s so slow. Or Gladys teasing Lester because he’s being foolish. I guess I did that too,
before.... laughed and carried on...
They were looking up at the window. They could see me watching them. I was going to wave when I saw Gladys point
and they all started laughing, making fun. They were pretending to hold their breath when they went by....
I guess they think if they breathe the air around the house, they’ll get sick too."
