James WARK and Mary ann TERRY
County Donegal to Fitzroy Township to Manitoba
August 20, 2006:
Hello,
I have been reading through your postings and thought maybe someone
would be able to help me.
I am looking for information of my 3Xgreat grandfather, James Wark. He arrived
in the Bathurst Dist. 1840-41, from Co. Donegal, Ireland. He married Mary Ann
Terry 1847 At Bathurst Dist.
They resided on Harbour St. on the bank of the Ottawa River. The 1851 census
lists James as a boot/shoemaker. The house was an A frame house with 2 stories
and had a shop for his work there.
James in-laws Harry and Lucy Terry lived with the family in the 1851 census, at Fitzroy.
Can anyone help me out with this family at Fitzroy.
Thanks in advance,
... Cheryl Wark

Thanks to Sue for the following:
James and his 2 sons and the 2 sons' families are in the 1901 Whitehead,
Brandon, Manitoba census and in the 1906 Souris, Manitoba census (James is 95
in this census). In the 1901 census, James says he was born 20 October, 1811
in Ireland, Harry on the 5 Sep in either 1848 or 1849, and Fred on the 7 Jun 1853.
James is not in the 1911 census, so presumably died between 1906 and 1911 in
Manitoba. Both sons and their families are in the 1911 Souris, Manitoba census.
Daughter Mary Ann never married and died in Carleton county on the 20 Jun 1883 of
tuberculosis. Unless you know who daughter Sarah married, I cannot find any
information on her.
