May 3, 2004:
Hello,
I came across your e-mail address when I did a Google search for Chelsea, Quebec genealogy.
I am researching a "Young" family tree that so far begins with Thomas and Julia(Gleeson) Young.
I believe their children were all born near Borrisoleigh and settled with their parents
in the Chelsea area. Thomas died in 1855 and Julia in 1871. Their children included:
William, Kitty or Catherine, John, Timothy, Thomas, James, Edward, Margaret, Simon, and Michael.
James married Bridget Meagher in 1864 in Aylmer. I think Bridget had a sister
Catherine who married a John Ryan, son of Edward and Elizabeth Ryan.
I would be interested to know if your research has come across any of these "Youngs".
Both James Young and his brother, Simon, my g g grandfather eventually settled in
Northeastern Wisconsin, USA. I know at least Edward Young stayed in the Chelsea area
and is buried there.
Thanks !
Mike Kussow

Hello Mike and Al
I am also researching Young's from the Borrisoleigh area. Would you have
any connection (or heard from others) with Youngs's of the Rusheen area,
just outside of Borris. I do not have a great deal of information yet but
am happy to share what I have. Did you know there was a site for Ileigh
Church graveyard at
http://members.iinet.net.au/~sgrieves/cemeteries_ireland_2.htm
some Young's and Ryans are buried there. Ileigh Church is also outside of
Borris and not in the village itself. I am not a Borris expert but have
been there several times and my husband was born there (in Rusheen) and is a
Young - so maybe he could answer a question you may have.

This refers to e-mail from Mike Kussow to Angela Young.
My name is Marilyn Young and I am the great great-grand daugther of
Thomas Young and Julia Glieson. My father, Thomas Emmett Young was the son
of Thomas Young Sr. (ear ring Tom)(married to Annie Burke) and he was the
son of Thomas (married to Maria Johnson) and he was the son of Thomas Young
(married to Julia Glieson).
I too have spent some time on the family tree but, unfortunately, started too
late and many of the necessary people has already passed away. I spent time
in the church in Chelsea and they allowed me to go through their church
registries back to the beginning of the parish.
It is good to have contact with you and it would appear that we are related.
Would enjoy comparing notes with you.
Thomas Young Sr. and his children all settled around Chelsea and Ottawa so I
have all information on this group of people.

You might find this interesting if you don't already have it. My mother,
Marilyn Young, contacted you a little while ago with our side of the tree
from Chelsea. Below is a website from 2003 that has all the grave
markers from St. Stephen's in Chelsea, Quebec. The Young's are at the
bottom of the list.
Thanks,
Angela Young

Note: My cousin, Diane Christopher Patriquin is also interested in the
early folks listed on Scott's page for St. Stephen's. She and I are related
to the Youngs and the Felix McGrath family who are buried there.
